We have a frame being fabricated that requires a splice in one of the tubes.
We have two options of where to place the splice depending on which way we flip the tube.
Option A puts the splice directly over a connection point where another tube would be welded over the splice.
Option B would place the splice just above the connection.
The frame is made of HSS 12x12 tube steel.
In the attached sketch the small lines perpendicular to the members indicate a bolted connection.
What are your thoughts on the best placement of the splice?
