Spline/Curve export to coordinates

Hello,

I found thread 561-272761 and was able to use the first Grip file in it to export information on a single spline (up to 100 points). I would like to export x/y coordinates for a spline/curve that I create through text curves and imported splines with more points though. I ran into a few issues when using the last Grip file on thread 561-272761 and it would not actually execute the file for me. I really only need to export one spline at a time, I do not need it to run several splines/curves.

what do you mean by "text curves" ? Are those curves that are made into letters ?

Cowski - I did not see that forum. I opened up the file and tried it out on a spline I had already created and received a few errors. When I open the grip file I get "Error 1545031 at like 56 in Pts_Akibg_Curve_to_txt-file. The character position in the string is invalid." I have two options - 'CONTINUE' or 'TERMINIATE' If I continue - I can select the spline but then I receive an error after selecting the spline "Data file Saving Error! Program Terminating!". Any ideas? I am not familiar with Grip files or much coding outside of VBA, so I am not sure where to begin for trouble shooting this. This error is the same error I received on the original file that John had posted for 1000 points. The 50 to 100 data points file still works.

Jerry1423 - Yes - text curves meaning curves made into letters (or insert->curve->text)

This is all sparking since I need to engrave various letters, symbols, etc. on a Swiss Lathe. If I get the points, I can create a Macro to create the program from the points.

Grip is a VERY old programming language. It does probably not accept modern "ideas" such as spaces or other characters in the filename than pure ASCII.
I.e English characters only and no spaces in the filename, NOR the directory.

The grip program will read the name of the part, and the directory then name the textfile "similarly" ( i.e 12345_box_00.prt -> 12345_box_00.txt ) in the same directory as the part itself.

Do for example not place the part file on the desktop because this directory path might contain spaces.

Toost - thanks for your reply. I was working with files in TC and that appeared to make the difference. I exported my file and tried them both the same folder and it worked perfectly. Thanks again.
