Dear All
I'd be very grateful for any pointers/references on space requirements for AC outdoor unit enclosures.
Manufacturers' literature doesn't have the exact info I'm looking for as I'm looking at a slightly unusual application. Can't find anything much use in the AHSRAE and CIBSE guides either.
The Client requires the outdoor units to be mounted within the building envelope - i.e not on the roof or anywhere outside. Therefore we are mounting the units in concrete enclosures with a louvred opening to outside (sorry but I can't provide any layouts).
The Client is now concerned about:
1) short-circuiting of hot exhaust air back into the enclosure
2) adequate fresh air provision to the suction side of the unit.
This is a design and build contract so we cannot base our design on specific models as it is ths contractor's decision. However, the dimensions we have allowed for are as follows:
TYPICAL OUTDOOR UNIT:
Max Width: 850mm
Max Height : 850mm
Mex Depth: 350mm
ENCLOSURE INTERNAL DIMENSIONS:
Assuming 1 unit per enclosure: 2050mm(W) x 1850mm (H) x 950mm (D)
Assuming 2 units per enclosure: 2900mm(W) x 1850mm (H) x 950mm (D)
Assuming 3 units per enclosure: 3750mm(W) x 1850mm (H) x 950mm (D)
LOUVRE REQUIREMENTS:
De-mountable
Min. 70% free area
The above is based on a Daikin SkyAir RR series catalogue. However - catalogue does not give any recommenations for our exact set-up, plus the client is still concerned about opints 1) and 2) above.
Any info/opinions appreciated!
