Splitting a Single Pipe into two smaller pipes and rejoining

Hi all,

We have a piece of moving machinery operated hydraulically which works in an area with limited space. I am having a problem designing the routing of a -24 (1 1/2") flexible tube because the minimum bend radius (around 500mm for 210 Bar rated hose).

If I were to split this -24 hose into 2x -16 hoses in this problem area and then rejoin into a -24 hose, can I expect any issues other than a slight loss of head due to the T junction and increased relative wall area?

The minimum bend radius of a -16 hose is around 150-200mm is the big advantage.

Is this a common thing to do?

Note that this is a piece of moving equipment so we can't use rigid pipe.

Your flow area will be decreased a nominal 12% with the 2 smaller hoses. If you can live with the losses associated wit the 2 hose design you should be ok.
 
Thanks guys,

Ted unfortuantely this hose connects a static and a moving part so there is no getting away from bending it.
