Dear fire people.

I´d like to know for criteria on locating smoke detectors for a small storage house which has a monitor type peaked roof.

I´ve read some recomendations on locating projected beam smoke detector on this type of roof, but since the storage house is relatively small I want to know if spot detectors can be used for this applications and by the way save some money.

Dimensions: area 18mx15m=270m2 (59'x 49'=2900ft2).
Heigth: 5.5m (18')
Slope: 12°
Peak height: 7.1m (23')
Peaked roof dimension: peak along the 18m side centered, Monitor roof: the monitor is along the peak. The width of the monitor is 3.6m (11.8´) with continuos opening of 30 cm (1')on both sides.
The openings will allow some ventilation but I guess it does not apply for a high air movement area.

The structure and the roof are made of steel.

Any comment will be highly appreciated.

The storage house is used to store electrical spare parts.

As in it will let the dirt and dust in??? and this is not conditoned space???

if yes to all above would not use smoke detectors..

How about rate of rise heats???

Protecto-wire. This application begs for a linear heat detection system becuase of the sloped roof. Plus you do not need to worry about gunking of the detectors.
