SSC resistant, NACE MR-01-75 3

hi,

what are the technical requirements for SSC (sulfide stress cracking) resistant carbon-steel materials (not forgings) that comply with NACE MR-01-75 standards.

Does ASME A105 material complies with this standard?

what must be the material type, hardness and composition etc..

I got this from my Fisher rep recently.

NACE recently held a conference here. There is much discussion around NACE. In fact CAPP will be publishing a document at the end of December instructing or advising members on how to interpret the new ISO 15156/NACE MR0175. My current understanding is MR0175 - 2003 has been superceded by ISO15156. And MR0103 is a refinery spec. which Fisher complies to already.

for example, what is the required hardness, CE and chemical composition for carbon-steel materials?

Does A105 do not comply these standards?

i have not possibility to have these standards.

Sorry, I do not have that type of information. For most of my applications, NACE is to deal with H2S. And for that, MR0175 compliant instruments is what we specify. I am on the other side - I rely on the certificates that my instruments/valves meet MR0103/75. I determine whether to use MR0103 or 75. Also, I am still awaiting the CPP guidelines - to determine when I should comply to one or the other.

The best I can do is that MR0103 deals more with chloride stress cracking than MR0175, which is more hydrogen stress cracking, I think.

Perhaps other mechanicals have the information and will share it in this thread.

For real guidance, see NACE RP-0472. MR0103 requires RP-0472 by reference.
