staad hardware lock

I have a Sentry Staad hardware lock, it has stopped working.
Staad version: Staad pro 2001, XP operating system.Any suggestions..?

Our current version of STAAD does not require a hardware lock. Each time we start up STAAD, the software accesses the STAAD website and obtains permission to use the software. That's over simplified, but perhaps that's why your lock no longer works.

Is this the lock that plugs into the printer port? If so, try it on a computer with a different Windows OS? Maybe it's XP.

If you still pay for support then you can go to STAAD (now Bentley) they will still allow a hardware lock but I think 2008 will be the last year.
