hi

we have building with height 80 meter we made 20 modes.

after we run anlysis we have period for each mode.

for example for mode 2 persiod 3 second.

what is the refrence for checking the allowable for that period if it accepted or not?

we use ACI and ibc

It is not clear what exactly is your question, but I believe the following answer helps.

IBC 2003 or any other US code has any requirements to limit the fundamental period of the building. Longer building period indicates that the building is more flexible. If you have a significant mode with unrealstic periods, it would be impossible to control building drifts etc.

Building codes imposes a upper limit on the analytical value of the building period (Cu * Ta) you can while calculating the static base shear. This is to ensure that irrespective of the building flexibility, it is designed for a minimum base shear. ASCE 7-02 explains all this.
