Stabilized Crude Oil Wax Content/Temp.

Dear all,
Wax appearance temperature(WAT)of crude oil is important parameter during crude transportation via pipelines.

in this concern, could anyone please clarify,

1. does wax present in stabilized crude as well? or
2. does wax content of crude oils is removed during stabilization process? or
3. could anyone highlight (WAT)for stabilized crude?

Subodh,

1) Yes. Tends to present at a higher temperature than the "raw" fluid as the high ends are removed.
2) No
3) Varies by crude oil. Anywhere from 5C to 65C

You need to test each field.

Wax is a huge issue in some fields and is quite complex. More background needed.
Also be aware that there are different tests for WAT which can vary by 5 to 10C for the same crude....

I am in process of crude sampling skids FEED design evaluation, where, trying to understand whether wax is crucial factor in stabilized crude as well.

Could you able to suggest some literature reference to study it (wax phenomena & crude stabilization process) further.
