First time posting to this group, but not this website. So if I am in the wrong forum please let me know which one you would recommend and i will repost this thread there.

I am trying to find some products (if there are any) that are made of stainless steel and the tubing must be of a small diameter. I am a designer for a small Dryer company that dries sludge. I am trying to find some products or some companies that make products like I need to create a good fire prevention system. We have one that works but its not fool proof. I think I have a solution, but without the products to purchase and that are up to code it does me no good to work on it. I was hoping that since this is a code forum that someone might have some insight to some companies that I have been unable to google yet.

I would like to find SS 304 Tubing around 1/8" OD with some sort of pressure nozzle and or some sensors that can withstand high amounts of heat 350-500 Fahrenheit 24/7 that can detect a fire.... when I type this out and read it, I think I might be asking for to much, but I don't know until I ask.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

What kind of extinguishing agent do you want to use?

Are you trying to protect inside a piece of equipment?

Have you had a fire protection company look at what you want to do??

Currently we are using water as the agent.

The material that we dry must be at least @ 20% solids. So as the material dries it can sometimes become dusty or even small particles will build up on the interior of the lid or fall into the system and it gets routed throughout the system. This in the past has become a problem over use and did cause a fire once in the past. We had fire prevention in place which saved the machine, but the belt did not survive, which is one of the items we want to protect. The interior is a small area maybe 3"-4" in height and the material is within that area. Along with our current design. Which does work, but the means at which a fire is detected is not the best and we need a good solution.

As for an outside company taking a look I would say probably not, mainly because we are a small company and still fairly new to the this market.

You should investigate water mist systems. All of the piping and nozzles are SS so it may be capable of operating within your atmospheres. The governing design standard is NFPA 750, Standard for Water Mist Systems. An internet search of "waster mist fire extinguishing systems" will yield you the major manufacturers in the US and the EU.

Thanks I will investigate the mist systems that you describe above.

One more quick question... Do you know if there are any components or sensors that can withstand those high temperatures that can detect fires? We have thermocouples in place to track the temperature above and below the belt which will shut the system down if its programmed to get above a set temp. However to detect a fire can be some what of a challenge in these temperatures.

Thanks so much for helping me in a direction to look. I was not sure where to go and my search criteria was not close.

So how Long and Wide is this "The interior is a small area maybe 3"-4" in height"" Space you want to protect?

There are 2 models there is one that is 5 ft wide and another model that is 10 ft wide. The 5 ft wide I think will work fine running long ways, but the 10 ft wide I think is not going to be as easy to protect from the sides.

Five and ten feet wide

About 3-4 inches high

How long a run???

Have you talked to a fire sprinkler company about using a high temperature fire sprinkler head?

To answer your question, No... and we probably won't because we are small company. The systems we have created work (and to my knowledge they meet requirements). However with the 10 ft wide system its going to have to change somewhat, but the need for small equipment is going to be even more of a demand for us. I have searched the web and everything is to large, its all directed to building systems mainly. I found some that look to be smaller nozzles, but they are Chinese made and I never found a diameter. The water supply tube within the machine that we are using is only 1/8" diameter. That's about what I need, but if I can find something no larger than 1/4" diameter with high pressure nozzles I might be able to make something work.
