I am currently designing some rectangular potato hoppers with SS304 material. In accordance with a few publications that I looked at, stress limit in membrane (shells) can be around 0.67Fy to take account of collapse and buckling.

I wonder in using the similar factor of 0.67 for waist girder or stiffener yield strength limit would be too conservative? Or perhaps I should take it like 0.85Fy as usual steel member design? What do you recommend?
