Hi,

Good day.

I'm currently searching for standard dimensions of an insulated pipe support, like U-band support over the polyurethane insulated pipes. But I cannot find it at all. Most of the dimensions I get are from the Japanese manufacturers only, which is not useful to me. I do not know what those kinds of supports are called exactly or how to search for them. If anyone has any idea of how to find them, it would be of great help. I have attached an image of what kind of support I am trying to find out.

Thanks.

I doubt there is a "standard" as the insulation thickness varies depending on pipe diameter and thermal requirements.

You often need higher density PU foam at supports to increase its strength and bearing capacity and hence these can become slightly colder or warmer depending on what you are transporting. you often need a larger bearing area for PU foam to prevent crushing or damage during use. As the pipe material often expands or contracts more than "normal", I am surprised that a U bolt type arrangement actually works.

They are usually custom built to a design specific for your use, though most designers will have one they used before and just adapt it.

A bit more info on what your situation is would help.

The PU foam used is a high density ones and the thickness of the foam is also fixed for the pipes being used. It is for the colder pipes. This image is from the Japanese manufacturers but because the pipe diameter of Japanese standard and what I want to use is different, it is difficult to find dimensions of the U-band setup like the pitch of the bolt boles and width of the U-band and insulation. I cannot find any previous materials and the piping standard used for this project is new, so the bolt hole pitch also seems to be different.

Thank you for the reply. I think I should find and contact manufacturers to see if they make those kinds of support and get the dimension.

Take a look at
Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but they have some pipe support blocks similar to what you have in your picture. You said this is for a cold pipe, a quick look at one of the spec sheets and they have material that can go down to -65F, again not sure if this meets your requirements but take a look.

tsarbomba,

The picture you post, for me, is not a good example.

It seems to use a flattend section of the PU foam for the vertical load and also U bolt type supports are not good when used in service which actually expand and contract. They are only any good if all they do is act as a guide for vertical and horizontal supports with a clear gap around the outside, but many people like to see them bolted down, essentially creating a whole series of anchors / stops.

Now if they all hold then it's OK, but many don't and they start to dig into the insualtion.

I would recommend something like this
