standards adapted in CANADA

Hi,
I have worked on the process design of refinery units ( such as Hydrocracking) for 6 years,and now I am in Canada. Could you give me some useful suggestions or tips about the standards and regulations I need to learn, if I still want to be a process design engineer in Canada.

Most engineering codes in Canada are the same API/ANSI/ASME codes as are used in the US.

The only different set of standards we use are CSA standards, from a refinery process point probably the only relevant one is CSA B51, which is the canadian pressure vessel & piping code. Even that really just builds on ASME Section VIII and the relevant ANSI B31.* codes. Pipelines in Canada are governed under CSA Z66.2, but most in-plant piping is B31.1 or B31.3.

Further, depending on what province you're in there are different acts & regulations that further supersede general standards. Here in Alberta, for instance, the provincial government mandates standards like the Oil & Gas Conservation Regulations, the Safety Codes Act, and Pipeline Act & Regulations.
