I have Just startsd getting the 'Sldwrks has caused an error in MF.DLL' in SW2003 and closes. I do as the error box explains - restart - I have hit that button so many times that I've almost got bleeding fingers, I have updated my video driver and checked the versions of the affected files and all seams to be in order. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail.
can someone please tell me whats wrong with this damn computer or application.
800 mhz Pent3,
128 meg ram,
Win. ME.
Trident 8 meg Video card.

Forgot to mention this happened after the install of SP 2

I am surprised you are getting this error. MFC42.dll is a Visual C++ library that supports Unicode. Solidworks uses this library for text processing. Do as SBaugh suggest. Clean up the registry. Also do a search for files "MFC42u.lib", and "MFCS42u.lib". Delete these files. They are probably corrupted and that is why you are getting the error.

Reinstall Solidworks. It should work fine.

You shouldn't need to copy these files manually. But just in case you can download them from Microsoft, or send me your email and I will send them to you,

Good luck.

One nuclear bomb can ruin your whole day.

Have cleaned up the registry AND sought out the .lib files. Tried re-installing solidworks 2001 and the problem persists. Any other ideas?

I think it's a combination of Win ME, 128 RAM and a 8 Meg video card. But mainly your Video card.

thread559-58653 look at my post on Computer hardware

- get a card that is in the green - I was going to look up your card, but I don't even know who makes a trident card.
