The first step which usually results in a reasonable answer is to telephone the local pump supplier.

You need to determine what you need your pump to do (head, flow, etc.) along with available utilities. Then as Artisi said, call several pump vendors and let them provide a pump recommendation per your process specifications.

As a former pump supplier here is what I would have asked you:

1) Is this an existing application? If Yes, can I come see it? If no, can I see a P&ID?
2) What are you trying to do?
3) How fast are you trying to do it?
4) Describe the existing/designed piping arrangement.
5) Describe the control system. Manual? Automatic? Float switches? Etc.
6) Voltage? Phase?
7) Installation. Outdoor? Indoor?
8) Duty

Things like this.
