I see shoes at that are classified for static per ASTM F2413-05. Does anyone know if that means these are good enough to replace shoe straps in ESD safe environments? If so maybe I'll purchase a pair instead of putting on straps.

The abstract states "conductive properties which reduce hazards that may result from static electricity buildup,... static dissipative (SD) properties to reduce hazards due to excessively low footwear resistance that may exist where SD footwear is required"

Thanks,

Do you have conductive socks too? The straps are tucked into your socks to have direct skin contact..

Seems so; I tuck the straps outside of my cotton socks and have never failed at the ESD test station.

Just following the manufacturers instructions...

"Insert the contact strip inside of the shoe and under the foot. You may also insert the contact strip between the sock and skin. Make sure that a solid contact is made between the sock and body. Do not allow the contact strip to twist or bunch up. Once heel is repositioned inside tied shoe, tuck excess ribbon material into side of shoe.

Test each foot grounder to confirm proper installation."
