What is the criteria for determining whether you need self contained metalclad swithgear at the 208/120VAC level or just go with separate individual indoor AC breaker panels...For example from a 13.2kv:208V transformer feed to a control building at a substation.

Design Criteria may include:
Advantages:
1) Self contained metalclad switchgear is more compact and will require less room.
2) The assembly may be tested in workshop for short-circuit withstanding.
3) No need feeder cable for low-voltage connection from transformers.
4) Breaker capacity is superior with respect the low-voltage MCC [or panels]
5) The 13.2 kV Switchgear may be introduced in the same room with low-voltage switchgear.
Disadvantages:
1)The equipment is more expensive.
2) A smaller MCC for small consumers may be required.
