I am looking to generate steam in a laboratory environment. Looking to generate about 1.3kg/hr of steam or 5kw of total heat dissipation form the equipment. What is the best way to generate steam ? I know immersion heaters do the job, but is there any better way to generate steam in a laboratory environment. Links to products which can do the job also would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

What pressure steam? Saturated or superheated?

Best to you,

Water to be heated at ambient, outlet to be superheated steam at say 150C...

Again, what pressure? That determines entirely what method would be safest for you.

Water is heated at Atmospheric pressure.

Then it's not superheated is it?

And unless you live someplace unusual, it won't be 150C.

There are miniature lab sized boilers that use immersion heaters and have the appropriate safety equipment.
They tend to use excess water flow to help dilute impurities so that you don't have to treat the water.

I meant, water to be heated at atmospheric pressure, outlet to be steam at 150C with 50 C superheat.

DI water is used in the process.

EdStainless, would you be able to suggest and/or send some links regarding the boilers/immersion heaters you are talking about.

thanks.
