Steam Pipe Heat Loss Through Support Shoe

Would appreciate source for calculating the heat loss through a pipe shoe (direct steel from pipe to support frame) from an insulated pipe.
Support shoe is a Tee, Structural W, and fabricated shape.

Before anyone gets too emotional about "Heat Loss Calculations for Pipe Shoes" there should be a rational consideration for the type of insulation (Hot vs Cold) and all areas and types of heat loss.

Hot Insulation - Here a pipe shoe, a "Dummy" pipe support or any Trunnion type of extension welded directly to the pipe will provide a path for (conduction) heat transfer and loss, but this is very small when compared to other items. Items that are not insulated and provide a greater surface area and radiant heat loss include all the flanges and the valve bodies.


Cold Insulation - Here all areas are insulated. This includes valve bodies. Pipe supports are normally isolated from direct contact with the containment pipe by a non heat conductive material or as in the case of a direct welded "Dummy" support the Insulation would be extended on the Dummy for a distance of 5 times the insulation thickness.
