Hi,

I need to write up exams for operators. Does anyone have any questions?

You need to give a little more to go on for a starting point. Is this for a fire tube boiler at an unloading rack or an ultrasupercritical power plant?

Thermosolar steam power plant. I wan to concentrate on the steam cycle:

purchase a book called Steam 41 from babcock & wilcox. Read that and formulate questions based off of what you feel is important. Your water treatment vendor should also provide training.

thanks. The problem with the training is that it has been given at a very early stage, before they even sat down in front of the DCS.

First, I don't know what the training that they will be given contains. But let's assume that it contains what you want your operators to know. I'd then test on what you think is important for them to know.

Example, (and I now remember who you are and some of the plant schematics you posted in other threads) they should know how to properly start your feed and condensate (and all types of) pumps.

They should know about heater level control, and what the consequences are if levels are not maintained properly in the heaters.

They should know about the vacuum systems. (See another current thread in this forum)

They should know about how to put the turbine(s) on line and about heat-up and cool down.

They should know some basics about PID loop controllers and control devices, valves, etc.

They should know about generators, breakers, excitation systems, protection systems, etc that they will be responsible for operating.

They should know about auxiliary systems, plant air, battery backup systems.

They should know about Lock Out Tag Out and critical safety systems.

There is much more, but that should do for starters.

These are great ideas thank you all. The exam I will do in Spanish, however if you are interested I could find the time and translate for you guys. Here are some very basic questions.

Why is the deaerator placed at a high level?
Why do we have a HTF expansion tank situated high up?
What does the ST HPT DP controller do?

etc...
