Steam Trap - Jet Velocity and Erosion

I am looking at the intensity of erosion generated by the jet of steam and condensate released when a steam trap opens.

Is anyone aware of any test data or calculation methods for estimating -

1. The velocity of steam jets generated by condesnate depressurising through a small orifice

2. The flow rate of by condesnate depressurising through a small orifice

3. Methods of estimating the erosion rates of SG iron or different steels caused by droplet or caviation erosion?

Probably a company that manufactures steam traps, like Armstrong, Spirax Sarco etc would have this info. If you can use a trap with a dribble discharge, like a float & thermostatic, it will greatly reduce the erosion. Otherwise, it's pretty much put a heavy 90* el immediately after the trap, let it take the blast, and periodically replace it.
