I wonder if anyone can help. I'm designing a stretch bender for producing a car door window glass channel. I can't get any info out of the end user on the steel to be used. Has anyone any idea of what steel is used in glass channels and what its yield stress is likely to be. It's already rolled into a U - section. I suspect it could be something like CR1. I'm working on 530N/mm^2 at the moment. Thanks in anticipation.

Get a sample, bend it, and work the math.

JCW used to stock the stuff, but they've gone back to being a junkyard, or less, so your local junkyard may be your best source.
