what might be the reason of steel rope failure.Maximum fracture surface exhibits surfaceat fort five degrees .There are pits on the surface of high carbon steel. What are the damage mechanism.WHat is the probable microstructure of such steel.Carbon is 0.78 percent.

Follow the same advice I gave you for the brass tube. Get it done right instead of trying to get failure analysis done for free.

Let me think about this for a few minutes and then I will be able to see the failed parts, the application, the mounts, any residue, the fracture surface, the loading spectrum and all of the other things needed for any sort of analysis; right in my head. Yup: now I can imagine it all....I imagine a broken cable.
What is the reason for the failure? How can we know?
Like Met said; hire out for a proper failure analysis.

Your steel wire rope failed because its breaking strength was exceeded. Whether this is because the rope was weakened due to environmental factors, corrosion, heat, or was simply mechanically overloaded, we have absolutely no way of knowing.

Your question is along the lines of: "How long is a piece of string? It is blue."

Get a proper failure analysis done by a competent party.
