Hello Everyone :

About steel structure, I often encounter some clash problems, and may need to cut off a part of flange of the beam or column etc.... I would like to ask have any book or paper devoted to this aspect about reinforcement or repair of steel structures.

Many thanks

I don't know of any specific books that have been written on that topic - it is really just something that requires good basic engineering practice and understanding but I can see where seeing some examples would help you get on the right track to begin with.

Yeah.

FIX the problem (the interference!) by FIXING the later conduit or pipe or support or cable. Don't cut the structural member just to make an electrician or pipe job cheaper.

AISC had a great webinar a few years back about reinforcement of steel members. Covered some of the odd cases like partial length reinforcement and stabilizing vs destabilizing column reinforcement, weld distortion, residual stresses, etc.
