Steel studs for lintel

I want to use double studs opposing in a track for a door header but I was wonder what size to use. If the wall is 6" studs, should the header studs be 6" or can I use 4"

Use whatever you need by analysis. It would only make sense economically if you somehow had perfect proportions such that the cutoffs from a certain length stud would provide exactly the lintel length required(unlikely)[ignore][/ignore]
