I just joined and came across some interesting information regarding stellite. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for repairing cracked stellite or adding additional stellite to a part that was machined improperly? Its greatly appreciated!!

Check with your local welding consumables supplier. He will be the best to advise you with various options depending on your application.

In addition to the above response, we have Stellite 6 in various valve applications across our Plants. Stellite 6 is repairable but requires elevated preheat at 500 deg F and weld repairs should be with Stellite 21 over Stellite 6, if possible. Otherwise, your only other option is to completely remove the Stellite and start over.

Stellite is a registered trademark of Stoody Deloro Stellite.

Contact them for info. Many versions of it and usually excellent technical support.

You might try TIG welding Stellite into the cracked region and then remachining it.

Over the years I've been involved with welding quite a bit of Stellite including crack free ( well almost) Stellite 1. I'd suggest you contact Deloro Stellite directly, and I'd start with Brad at 613-968-3481.
