Aloha,

I'm think about purchasing two unipolar steppers from EAD motors. Where can I purchase a simple power supply that provides at least 24 volts and can supply over 6 amps of current for two steppers.

Steppers only require very crude power supplies. It is not a lot of effort to just make one with a transformer, bridge rectifier, and a capacitor. Many use ferro-resonant transformers. This sounds low quantity and your best bet is eBay. They have an active home CNC community and a lot of steppers and power supplies can be found for low cost. A friend of mine bought 24V regulated supplies because they were so cheap for his stepper drives.

Unfortunately, making a power supply will take more time than it is worth. If this was a personal hobby, I would surely make a power supply, but I'm working for a project with the University of Hawaii Physics department so they would rather me buy a power supply than make one.

I'm sure the physics department won't let me purchase items from e-bay. Do you know of any companies that sell these power supplies? They do not need to have excellent quality, but they do need to be reliable.
