Hi Everybody,

In my model of contact analysis involving rubber material,
Abaqus provide me a few nodes which move along contact surface by sticking and slipping until the job fails.
I have used *contact controls, automatic tolerances and stabilize factor in order to avoid this kind of "chattering" but, unfortunatelly, this local instability is always there....

Thanks for your help

I'm not familiar with ABAQUS, but this type of problem is common to FE analyses involving friction. You should try making the frictional constraint "softer". This means that the stick slip distinction is smoothed out.

I believe in ABAQUS the parameter to do is the called the "maximum allowable elastic slip". Increase this parameter and you should get convergence.

If that doesn't help you should even try running the problem without friction at all to make sure that friction really the cause of the non-convergence.
