Stitching a fabric to a metal plate

I would like to attach a non-metallic fabric to a metal plate. The cut piece of fabric is rectangular, and there are selvedged metal wires and the warp edges and this allows for welding to the plate. Now I need to secure the weft (width ends) to the plate?

Is there a stitching method that could do this?
