Can anyone recommend a good stormwater management software package? We have Hydraflow Hydrographs 2002, and are not satisfied with it.

It depends on what you are trying to do. We use HydroCAD for site development stormwater management reports etc., and it works fine.

There is a forum on this site under Engineering Computer Programs that deals with it.

Good luck.

We use Hydroflow Hydrographs in our office and it does a good job on Hydrographs and Ponds. However, it does fall short in the underground stormwater management scenario. It will not analyze a network of pipes at different elevations(Haested will not either and it cost 20 times what Hydroflow costs). We use spreadsheets to compute stage storage info and enter into Hydroflow. What kind of stormwater management systems are you trying analyze?

You can also try HEC-HMS which is available free from the U.S. Army Corpe of Engineers website (don't know the url offhand but with a quick search you can find it).

Sapaeng -

would you be able to email me a copy of the spreadsheet you use?? i have been doing those calcs by hand.

Thanks!!

We use StormShed by Engenious Systems. this has been a very good program for modeling basins, ponds, underground storage, etc. It is cabable of modeling complex networks. Input is fairly user-friendly. And it's not nearly as expensive or restrictive as Haestad.

We have used it for simple site plans with ponds to industrila with several ponds piping networks. David Lee

We currently have two offices and we use Intelisolve Hydrographs and the other uses Haestad Pondpack. The problem we have is that it can be difficult to check work because Hydrographs uses TR-20 where Haestad uses TR-55. It seems that Hydraflow is limited in some of the input for pond and routing, so we are thinking about upgrading to Pondpack. The only problem is that the current version of 8.0 cannot be saved and opened in 7.5 which our other office is using. We would have to upgrade both offices. Does anyone know a good program that uses TR-55 for the pond peak flows rather than TR-20 so we would at least have a direct comparison to Pondpack?
