Hello,

I am working on a flexible plastic part. I want to know if it can bend open enough without breaking. I have a good idea of the strain at break, but I don't have the stress strain curve so I don't have a good idea of the young's modulus. I don't really care about the force required to open the part, just the fact that it can deform within its elastic range. Does it make sense to apply an arbitrary force and look at the strain plot of the part to make sure it is under the strain at break when it is deformed to the point needed?

Thanks!

if you have some of the material, do your own tests.

i guess you could interpolate from (0,0) to failure ... but that doesn't sound like a good assumption (brittle?)
