I have a new MS Intellipoint optical mouse. The middle button typically is the scroll button which I use to zoom in and out. However, periodically, it will change to just scroll. Is there some variable that may be causing this? Any ideas?

The same thing happens to me...usually only with very large files. If I Exit (not Close), and come back in, it will be back to zoom (which I love), but seemingly at random goes to scroll again (which I hate).

This is an interaction between the mouse drivers in Windows and AutoCAD's MBUTTONPAN variable and AutoCAD. I have seen differences between Microsoft and Logitech drivers that take a while to iron out before you get the "action" that you want. The only thing AutoCAD would change is the variable. You may check it whenever this happens to make sure the variable is set to what you want. Other that that, well... you know Windows or AutoCAD can (on that ever so rare occasion) can glitch. ;-)

Nope, MBUTTONPAN must be 0 or 1.

It happens with MBUTTONPAN = 0 and MBUTTONPAN = 1.

You could try to download and install the latest mousey drivers...

Annoying problem, no idea why it does it (mainly if I have more than 0ne dwg open) - but here is a 'fix'

Zoom extents, then place your mouse pointer IN the left side of the HORIZONTAL scroll bar, then scroll with your mouse scroll button.

This cures my problems (for the current session at least...)

I've had similar problems in te past and found that reverting to intellipoint v4 drivers fixed all glitches. I've had all sorts of problems with intellipoint v5 and greater drivers, but V4 works perfectly.
