Hi all,

Has anyone done something like this before? Are there any issues with doing something like this other than the inconvenience of having them fabricated? I have an existing stem wall foundation that is only 6" wide and it's likely to be lightly reinforced (30s construction). I can't sleep at night knowing that post installed drill and epoxy solution will work all that well. What are your thoughts? Please refer to attached

Thank you!

Does the side face of the concrete wall below align directly with the face of the stud above?
That should be the preferred case in my view. Nailing through gypsum board sheathing or plaster to get to the stud isn't ideal.

Not sure what that gap is between the strap and the stud in your sketch.

Hi JAE,

I am not sure but I would want them to align the plywood sheathing with the foundation wall as best they can and not have them install the strap over the gypsum board. This is something I will need to have verified but I agree that the strap over the gypsum board is not a good idea.

This has been done often and is an excellent solution to this particular problem so long as the details check out. It's also a solution that's been discussed here on several occasions. This thread even includes somebody's typical detailing for the condition: Link
