hello friends;

i have modeled a vessel in abaqus and I need to extract membrane and bending stresses to compare it according to some standards. my problem is there is less help about stress linearization in abaqus and i dont know some expressions in the stress components : the bending stresses are mentioned twice , one time for bending components , and one time for calculating invariants.
i need to know why and how the invariants are calculated and why the bending components are important for this issue ?

if any one has used asme sec .8 division 2 i'd like to know how to set the stress components of membrane and bending and also for invariants so the stresses be in accordance with the standard

Hi,

It's interested what you do but I don't know, sorry I don't know, at this moment I want to develop a program with Excel and visual basic macro, to link input file .inp from abaqus to Isymost.

Thank you in advance

Is it the ABAQUS terminology that you are having issues with, or is it the terminology in ASME Section VIII, Division 2. Are you using the new (newer than 2007) edition of VIII-2?

In the visualization module, open the query tool. You'll see stress linearization in the "Visualization Module Queries".

What part of this would you like to know? What part in VIII-2 isn't clear?

hello;

the ASME Div.2 I use is 2007 . I know how to use stress linearization , but i dont know how to arrange the bending components in the 2 rows ( both the one for bending components and and also for calculating invariants ) , to be in accordance with ASME sec 8 div.2

i want to know which components of bending should be ticked to calculate invariants

Annex 5A is pretty clear. The radial and longitudinal components are the only ones used for the bending invariants.
