STRETCH, MOVE...objects move even though they are not selected!

I've got a 2D drawing that is like a flow chart. I am constantly having to fit new things in...so I use the STRETCH commmand quite often. I've never seen this before, but it's quite annoying...when I go to STRETCH a particular set of objects, AutoCad just assumes I want the whole connected set even though they aren't in the selection set (most often created by the CROSS command inside the selection pick). Is there some kind of variable or toggle that I can turn off that will eliminate this feature? I turned OFF "Infer Constraints"..that didn't do it.

I turned OFF "Infer Constraints"..
Did you delete constraints that were already created?
(turning off Infer Constraints does not delete existing constraints)

They are not groups or blocks. Unless AutoCad can create groups without you knowing it? I created lines showing boxes, circles, etc. connected together. Like a train....with lines as the linkages. When I go to stretch it moves all the lines. It's like they are all tied together as a PLINE but I never created them that way to start. I have been deleting or breaking the structure whenever it occurs.

I am a part time user of AutoCad, trained years ago when most commands were typed on the command line. That's how I still use it.

I'm not familiar with "Infer Constraints" and why or where that is used...thought that could be the issue. I don't know if I deleted them.

I don't know if I deleted them.
Then most likely you didn't.
I think in one release of AutoCAD infer constraints was on by default.
See the Parameters tab to see how to show the constraints in the graphics window and to see how to delete them.
You might create a custom template with constraints disabled if you are not going to use them.
