This is the ground floor (3 floors total) of my build. Floor 1 overhangs on the two south facing facades, hence why the columns are "outside" of the ground floor walls.
I think the structural grid is okay - but I would like to ask whether the dotted lines of the grids actually represent where beams will go or are they just to work out where to put the columns? (I'm a first year Architecture student so please be kind - I'm not up to speed with the structural stuff!)
If they are beams, then I'm not sure if D8 would work. The brown smudgy line is the balcony of the first floor and so I couldn't have the beam coming out of that to the back wall.
My main question is stability. I've put orange rectangles around where I thought I could put the stability walls, but I don't think they follow the three rules I've been told:
1) Must have stability elements in each orthogonal direction
2) Must be perpendicular distance between two parallel stability elements
3) Centre of stiffness of the stability elements should be somewhere near the middle of the building
Does point 1 mean they HAVE to be at 90deg to each other? Because I have no walls that satisfy that rule. Or since they are roughly facing each direction, is this okay?
Again I don't have walls that are of exact distance from each other to satisfy point 2. Rectangle X and Y for example are closer to each other on the left side but the distance between them is larger on the right side.
Does point 3 mean I need other stability walls in the centre?
Thank you so much for any help
