Stuck in a command

Somehow In all the chaos I am unable to escape from a command that I'm in. I get the popup:

"The current operation cannot be interrupted or the document is not accessible at this time"

I'm in an assembly and most of the commands on the toolbars are greyed out. I can't rebuild, and right clicking doesn't give me any useful options.

Any ideas what I might have done?

You are in the middle of performing an action (creating a solid or sketch or ??? ... at least SW thinks you are) and SW is wanting you to finish it by selecting a surface or plane or ???.

What is showing in the command line at the bottom LH corner of the screen?
Is any part in the FM tree in edit mode?
Have you tried exiting the sketch?
Exiting the feature?
Ctrl Q?
Hitting the Esc key several times?

At the bottom of the command line it says

Under defined and editing assembly.

The FM Tree looks normal. There is no feature properties pane on the left hand side. (Could that become hidden somehow??)

I don't have the option to exit the sketch or rebuild. Ctrl + Q didn't do anything and hitting Esc several times just brings up the error window I mentioned before.

I was working on an explode operation before this happened but I don't have any options at all in the configuration window.

Cheers

If you were editing a part - from within that assembly - check to see if that part is now rolled back.

I don't remember the exact verbiage of the error message I get... but that has happend frequently to me.

...but try C.B.L.'s solution first.

Do you have other documents open? It sounds like you're in the middle of a command in another document that is contained within your assembly. Flip through the other parts you have open and determine if you are in the middle of a command on any of them.

I have 3 other part windows open but my assembly is the only window I can move around in.

So I managed to duplicate what I'd done.

I'd done an exploded view of the shafting in my assembly, then I animated the collapse. After the animation is done I am stuck.

So I guess the question is, after you animate a collapse what do you have to do next to get out of that state.

Activate the config that the exploded view is derived from.

Are you still having a problem?

Are you leaving the "Animator" open after collapsing the exploded view?

Double clicking the active configuration doesn't do anything, and the exploded views are greyed out. If I right click the configuration my only options are:

Advanced show/hide, show preview, go to, collapse items, and Customize menu

Which "Animator" window are you taking about? Is there supposed to be a pop up control bar? The only options under the Animation toolbar are screen capture, and Customize menu.

The animator toolbar which pops up when doing the following;

I think therein lies the problem.

I get no animator tool bar popping up. I moved all my windows around to see if it was hiding behind but there's no sign of it. Very Curious.

Ok I've definitely seen that tool bar before.

But when I animate my collapse it is nowhere to be seen.

Instead of animating it, just collapse or explode it.

You may need to do a repair of your SW install to fix the problem.

I think I'll be able to work around it just fine.

Thanks for all the help as usual.
