Does anyone have any recommendations for studying perforated timber shear walls using the 2005 NDS with the 2008 SDPWS? The example in the latest practice exam publish by NCEES uses the 2005 SDPWS and does not do a good job explaining anything.

i googled "perforated wood shear wall" and the first 3 hits were articles by the AWC

Thanks Jerehmy for the post however those articles are using IBC 2000 or earlier. I specifically would like an example using the SDPWS 2008. I will definitely look at those articles but I need to practice using what will be on the Fall 2014 SE exam.

I searched around I can only find examples from around that time. I have a wood book by breyer fridley cobeen and pollock but its from 08. The science will be the same and since you have the SDPWS 2008, can't you adjust what you have to to meet that code? It's not a very large code and its pretty bare-bones.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

The reason I would like an example using the 2008 SDPWS is because ICC took all the timber lateral load tables out in IBC 2009. They are presented a little different but I can adjust.

The only tables I see that they've taken out are the diaphragm and shear wall capacity tables and the shear adjustment factor which the SDPWS 2008 has. Are there other tables?

I believe there is an example in the 2008 SDPWS for a perforated wall. The design procedure should essentially be the same though.
