Hi,

Does anyone know any book introducing in details how to use sub-grade reaction method to analyze retention walls?
Wallap uses this method to calculate bending moment, shear force, deflection etc. using this method.
If it's not too difficult I am thinking to program it myself.

Have you tried the wallap manual? I know for alot of other geotechnical software there is a theory manual which explains everything

The following are nice references to get into the nuts and bolts of the subgrade reaction method for embedded walls:
- Computational geomechanics (Verruijt) - Chapter 5 - Sheet pile walls
- Foundation analysis and design (Bowles) - Chapter 13 - Sheet pile walls
- Programming the Finite Element Method (Smith, Griffiths) - Chapter 4 - Static equilibrium of structures
- Deep excavation, Theory and Practice (Chang-Yu Ou)

Hi Avscorreia,

I will definitely have a look at the books you recommended above.

Hi Geotechnicalengineer1,

I have Wallap manual, but it's not very detailed on steps of calculation.

But thank you all.
