I need to array a pattern across a face with both a straight line and a curved line then subtract it to make some thin grooves.

If I pattern geometry the first line/curve 100 times across the face and then subtract it things go fine. NX doesn't seem to like doing the second one as it just locks up and grinds. I've several methods with no luck. Thanks for any help.

In the attached file my very next step(which locks up nx) is to subtract the line pattern geometry from the solid block.

Have you tried uniting the resultant curve bodies before subtracting?

Yes and I tried projecting the curves and a few other options.

I tested your model first using NX 9.0.3.4 and it took just under 8 minutes to perform the second Subtract (note that I turned OFF the 'Preview').

I then tried it using NX 10.0.0.23 (one phase from final production) and again with the 'Preview' toggled OFF, it took only 2:37 minutes, still a fairly long time, but certainly a lot better than 8 minutes.

Note that these tests were done using an HP 'EliteBook' Laptop running Windows 7 with 16Gb memory.

Thanks I will try the turn off preview and let the machine sit for at least 20 minutes.
