Hi,

I understand that generally suction pipework is generally aimed to be a distance of 0.75D from the back wall - Is this a minimum requirement?

If this the spacing of suction pipework is instead 2.5 - 3 D from the back wall - is there a danger of dead zones/vortex's forming behind the suction pipework?

Not clear on what you are asking - *back wall"?

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

I assume you mean a pipe sticking through into a pit from the "back wall"?

Drawing would always help.

But yes there is a risk of a dead zone, but depends a lot on size of pit, velocity and swirl in the pit and many other factors.
