Hi,
Maybe this option already exists, but if it doesn't, I think it could be a useful feature:

One can already create comments for features - one way to do this is by directly entering text into the "comment" column in Part Navigator. Now, could the same comment appear as a bubble of text in the graphic window, if the mouse is hovered over the appropriate feature?

Well, you can go in and assign names (up to 30 characters) to any geometric object, such as curves, edges, faces or bodies, but not features, that can be displayed on the screen. You assign these names by selecting the object and going to "Properties". To see the names displayed on the screen, go to Preferences/Visualization... and select the "Names/Borders" tab and toggle on the Object Name Display options.

You're right, but then the screen can get really cluttered in a hurry.

Sounds like a solution that PMI addressed. Basically attaching notes to objects. Then I guess you could put that on a layer and keep it off. This you can move around easily and organize the way you want. Plus when you convert the solid to JT there is an option to embed the PMI information so that downstream users can view it. I haven't tried this since PMI application is new in NX4 but NX3 has smart models that did something similar, but not as graceful.
