Does anybody know is there an ability to use superscript letters in mathcad 12 in formulas?

I've been looking for years for a way to put in a superscript or an overscript (i.e., a vector arrow or a bar over a variable). If there's a way (up to V13) I sure can't find it. I hope you get a response.

I have also been looking for a way to put a bar, dot, caret etc on fonts for some time. I have mentioned it in emails to Mathsoft and face to face with agents but with no results.

Would I be correct in assuming that all you would need is a font creation program? i.e. Create one font with the bar, another with dot, caret etc and create a variable style with that particular font?

1. If it’s that easy why hasn't it been done before? Such fonts are common place in text books and the scientific community.

MathCAD has been around for 20 years that I have owned a copy. It is one of the irritations that a program that is supposed to replicate equations as written. It is sold to engineers and scientists so why can it still not do something that is so basic.

To me it represents a lack of care and foresight that casts doubts on other aspects of what should be a standard application for every engineer. Mathsoft only got away with it because there are so few other realistic competitors. Maybe PTC will sort things out.

Would I be correct in assuming that lack of such fonts has put off potential users. It has frustrated me several times. I assume this forum is monitored by PTC who as new owners will be keen to get a grip on things. I would suggest that this problem is fixed a.s.a.p. Treat this post as a long overdue kick.

2. I suspect that a down side of creating your own font is that it creates problems for others using your worksheets. Or would it?

3. Could anybody recommend a font editor that could be used to create fonts with a bar, dot etc? I don't mind paying but I would like to see it work first.

Best Regards

Sure, if you had a custom font, Mathcad would simply treat it like any other font in Windows.

You'd have to include the font file for anyone using the sheet. If they're supposed to look only at the results, you can PDF the sheet and embed the font in the PDF.
