In addition to Haynes 214, is there any other suppler for the nickel-chromium-aluminum alloys, i.e austenitic alumina formers?

Thanks in advance.

The answer to your question is yes. The Haynes 214 alloy is approximately 76Ni-16Cr-4.5Al alloy with small additions of yttrium and zirconium.

While I am not aware of another nickel alloy with quite as much aluminum as the 214, my company stocks a grade known as alloy 602CA or Nicrofer 6025HT. This was developed by Krupp VDM.

Alloy 602CA is nominally 63% Nickel, 25% Chromium, 2.2% Aluminum with small additions of yttrium, zirconium, and titanium. It forms an alumina scale as well as a chromia scale to protect itself from high temperature oxidation.

Hi Rolled Alloy,

Thanks for your reply.

For our high temperatures application (400-850oC), we want to prevent or minizise the formation of chromia outerlayer. Alloy 602CA is not suitable because it forms an chromia outerlayer (and an alumina underneath the chromia outwerlayer) as you mentioned.

Warmest regards,

Most of these extreme high temperature alloys contain cobalt as well, so you probably will not find something exactly equivalent. Nimonic alloys 105 & 115, and Udimet alloys 500 & 700 are all high-aluminum content alloys that may be closer to your target you can ontain more information from the Special Metals website:

Also, Krupp VDM offers another alloy, Aluchrom YHf, that has a much higher aluminum content. You can obtain more information using the following links:
