Hi
We will install a borehole pump 350 m3/h 220 kW supplying water to irrigation ( equipment rated 7 bar) and during drought season or other special cases to a factory ( 13 bar is required because distance is around 2 km and height difference). The pump will be used mainly for irrigation.

Before we used a VSD (without sine wave filter) and the motor winding got damaged in just about 3 months. We now intend to operate using a soft starter. Also because the sine wave filter cost more than the VSD.

Please see attached the set up. Is there a device we can install to reduce the pressure to 7 bar when the borehole pump is supplying only to irrigation? Thanks

Yes ther eis.

Google water pressure regulating valve.
Cla-Val make some good ones which are all pilot driven ( no power required)
You do lose / waste some energy though dropping the pressure if this is the main duty.
A second booster pump ( 7 bar to 13 bar) after the irrigation off take might work out cheaper in the long run.
