hi

I am modelling a three point bending test with varying spans, I applied the load, displacement controlled by contact modelling. I use rigid supports with only u3 and ur1 free.

For large spans (bending moment dominating), I have nice results(0-3%)for ultimate load by using stabilization
coefficient due to convergence issues (mesh refinement)and I check for ALLSD/ALLIE.

For short spans I am having problems with mesh refinement, I can refine the mesh to 2 mm and use 4 mm for the load bearing plate, but the results are -50%, while for a very coarse mesh its like -5%. The shear force is dominating now. I tried modelling the supports by using contact plates, making them rigid, using a line support but nothing seems to work. The solution converges and I dont have to use stabilization but my results are way off.

I use S4R linear elements.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated
