How do i calculate the surcharge on an excavation for calculation if i know that the plant operating at the side of the excavation is 20tonnes?

the surcharge is the load divided by area.
so divide 20 tonnes by the area of the plant and you have your surcharge. then you will need to apply the formula for the lateral pressure, to find out the pressure generated by that surcharge to your excavation.
