Is it possible to make flat layout ( unfold) of
different kinds of standard surfaces (like cone)
with Mechanical Desktop or AutoCad2000?
Many thanks in advance,
Me

Elvis,
Mechanical Desktop was trying to come up with a sheetmetal flat layout program just before the 4.0 release and Autodesk Inventor. I haven't touched MD3 in 10 months so you might want to check this out before getting your hopes up.

on catalysts or cadalog.com there was a lisp that did this very thing but i think it might have been only for solid cones only but its worth checking out if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place

I have written an Autolisp routine that produces 3D surfaces from 3D entities (from cones etc.) and then "unfolds" the surface to create a flat pattern or developement. I would be interested if there are any other lisp routines that do a similar thing. If you would like more information on my routine, or have information on others, you may contact me at terry.baker@process.glta.co.za
