Surface Finish Before/After Heat treat

Currently we are machining parts prior to heat treat, sending them to heat to treat and then to the customer. Am I mistaken but won't my surface finish change after heat treat? Specifically referencing 12L14 Steel. Appreciate any feedback.

Do you inspect your parts after heat treating?

You can specifically state on the drawing that your desired surface finish applies before/after heat treatment.

It will change, not sure how much. But, I agree with Wuzhee, add a note on the dwg.
