I have a part drawing which is nominally symmetric about 2 planes, which we might think of as 4 quadrants. I would like to use a surface profile tolerance between 2 points (call them A and B) in one of these quadrants - not exactly rocket science. Now, my question is, because this part is symmetric, can I put 4X on my feature control frame and have it legally understood that the profile applies in each of the 4 quadrants, or do I need to put 4 feature control frames between points A<->B, C<->D, E<->F, G<->H? Y14.5-2009, as near as I can tell, doesn't say either way about repetition with respect to such control points. We think its very understandable, we're just not sure if its legal because we aren't sure you can repeat A<->B. Would it be "More leagal" to instead do a detail view of one quadrant with profile over A<->B, and call the view itself out as 4X?
